Glyph and Sample Logic partner to deliver Virtual Instrument and Sound Effects on Portable hard drive.

October 6th, 2009

New York, NY— Digital storage manufacturer Glyph Technologies and virtual instrument/sound effect design company Sample Logic have partnered to deliver Morphestra on a portable hard drive. Morphestra is a new cinematic virtual instrument designed by Sample Logic’s award-winning team, presenting a powerful collection of creatively new and inventive organic instruments. Morphestra is derived entirely from orchestral recordings and psycho-acoustic sound design. In association with Kirk Hunter Studios and powered by Native Instruments Kontakt Player 3, Morphestra is an epic collection of over 27 GB and 1200+ instruments and multis delivered pre-installed on a pocket-sized Glyph PortaGig hard drive.

Aimed at a wide range of applications including film, TV, video games and ambient music, Morphestra makes creating an entire production possible without the assistance of any additional third-party instruments and effects. Rather than reinventing the traditional orchestra, Sample Logic has created a modern-day virtual instrument using effectual techniques. Morphestra includes: cinematic atmospheres, innovative melodic and rhythmic instruments, thunderous percussive impacts, transition trailer effects, and dynamic rhythmic loops, and lush evocative pads, just to name a few.

“Offering Morphestra exclusively on a Glyph drive was an important decision for us,” said Joe Trupiano, CEO of Sample Logic. “Saving our customers time by not needing to load content from DVDs means they are up and running right away. And we are guaranteed that it will work because the entire solution has been tested and qualified by Glyph and Sample Logic.”

Morphestra ships October 1st, and is available directly from Sample Logic’s online store, and from a network of worldwide distributors and resellers. It comes pre-installed on a 80GB Glyph PortaGig 800, which has FireWire 800 & USB 2.0 ports, and includes a FireWire 800 cable, USB 2.0 cable, Portable carrying case, and External power supply. It’s covered by Glyph’s industry standard 3-Year warranty, with 2-Year free basic data recovery, and 1-Year advanced replacement policy.

October 6th, 2009

New York, NY – Producer/audio engineer Lisa Chamblee-Hampton will play tracks and talk about working on the “Herstory Sessions” in Glyph’s AES booth (246). “Making Music Herstory” is a compilation album and music documentary made entirely by women. The goal is record music fueled by female energy, capture it on film, and present to the world positive images of women in entertainment. All-female talent is used to write, perform and produce the music; as well as direct, edit and produce the film.

A long-time Glyph user, Lisa will be playing “Herstory” tracks on a Glyph PortaGig SSD drive, and showing video from the upcoming DVD. “I wouldn’t trust my music and video assets on any other drive”, Lisa explains.

Lisa’s husband, industry veteran Dave Hampton, will also be at the Glyph booth demonstrating and discussing their use of Glyph products. Dave Hampton is globally recognized for his work in Audio Recording, Production, and Studio Design. For over 20 years, he has contributed to the success of many top artists like Babyface, Herbie Hancock, Prince, and Marcus Miller. On any project, Hampton’s reputation is one of providing solutions, and getting the job done. Dave will be signing copies of his book, The Business of Audio Engineering, in the Glyph booth throughout the show.

Lisa Chamblee-Hampton has worked on several Grammy award nominated projects, and her credits include Prince, Justin Timberlake, George Duke, Ledisi, Teena Marie and many more. Glyph to announce and demonstrate new GT 062E and ForteRAID products at 2009 AES Show

October 6th, 2009

New York, NY — At the AES 2009 convention, Glyph will be announcing and demonstrating two new products, the GT 062E and ForteRAID. Both are RAID protected storage solutions, and share an updated storage user interface, Glyph Manager 4.

GT 062E is the next generation of the very successful GT 062, a dual-drive tabletop RAID storage solution. The GT 062E improves on the original design by adding an eSATA port which provides for speeds over 230MB/s in RAID 0 mode. Using the industry-proven Oxford 936 chip, the GT 062E provides FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 ports, in addition to eSATA. With the new chip, higher capacity drives are now supported, allowing RAID 0 and Spanning capacities up to 4TB in a tabletop enclosure. Additionally, the front panel LED blinks red if there is a potential problem with the internal drives, regardless of the drive mode used, alerting the user to open the Glyph Manager software for more diagnostic information. The GT 062E is configurable in three drive modes: RAID 0, RAID 1, and Spanning, and can be rack mounted by itself or with a second GT Series tabletop.

ForteRAID is a four-drive tower with FireWire 400, FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and eSATA ports. Also employing the Oxford 936 controller, the ForteRAID can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 10 and Spanning modes. Removable drives makes it a breeze to swap if one should fail, and Glyph Manager provides a GUI to monitor the health of the chassis and drives. ForteRAID can be configured as RAID 0 with up to 8TB for video production environments, and has been tested with the leading video production software packages. Audio production users may choose to setup the unit in RAID 5 or RAID 10 mode, both of which are fault-tolerant modes, and can survive a disk failure without loosing valuable data.

The GT 062E will be the first of Glyph’s new products to ship with Glyph Manager 4 software, which has greatly expanded in functionality since the last version. A software utility for setting the drive mode, Glyph Manager 4 also displays health status of the Glyph case and drives inside, and functions over USB, FireWire, and eSATA. The new version reports case temperature, fan speed, individual drives’ health status and temperature, as well as any drive errors or rebuild failures. Glyph Manager constantly monitors drive health as a background task using S.M.A.R.T. commands, and if a problem is detected, it alerts the user by blinking the front LED red, and bouncing an icon in the Mac OS X dock or displaying an error balloon from the Windows System Tray. By predicting drive failure, you have a chance to backup your data before any is lost.

Glyph Technologies demonstrates PortaGig SSD at AES 2009 Booth

October 6th, 2009

New York, NY — Glyph Technologies is now shipping the PortaGig SSD, and will be demonstrating it’s performance at the 2009 AES Show (booth 246). PortaGig SSD is an external Solid State Drive small enough to fit into your pocket, and is available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 192GB capacities. Designed for the highest speed possible in a portable drive footprint, PortaGig SSD delivers high reliability, low power consumption and anti-shock features.

PortaGig SSD has no moving parts, subsequently eliminating the possibility of mechanical failure resulting from vibration, shock, and heat. It generates absolutely no noise during operation, and less power is needed as well, which means less heat is generated. The fanless, aluminum enclosure makes the PortaGig SSD extremely lightweight, however this 8-ounce mini-drive is deceivingly robust, able to work in the hottest, roughest conditions.

It may be small, but it’s powerful enough to support the requirements of high-end audio production, and portable video editing. Glyph’s audio testing shows that it can play back more than 128 tracks of 48 KHz/24-bit audio, with 2 edits/sec on every track.

The PortaGig SSD features a black, anodized aluminum case, measures approximately 3 inches wide by 5 inches long, and a little under an inch thick. Incorporating Oxford’s 934 chip, it can transfer data at 85MB/sec using the FireWire 800 port. The back panel offers a power switch, two FireWire 800 ports, and a USB 2.0 port, guaranteeing compatibility with Mac, Windows, and Linux systems.
The new PortaGig SSD comes in four capacities: 32GB ($399 list), 64GB ($579 list), 128GB ($1,019 list), and the largest capacity, 192GB ($1,429 list).

Backed by Glyph’s legendary service and technical support, it comes standard with a three-year warranty, two-year free First Level Data Recovery, with first-year overnight replacement. Glyph products are available through authorized dealers. Please check Glyph’s website for details.
